Coordination of Benefits

If you or your dependents are insured for similar benefits under another plan, Canada Life will take this into account when determining the amount of expenses payable under this program. This process is known as coordination of benefits. It allows for reimbursement of insured medical and dental expenses from all plans, up to a total of 100% of the actual expense incurred. If you wish to coordinate your benefits with your partner's plan, please complete a Group Coverage Change Form on our website.

Use More than One Plan to get Your Money Back

Once you have coordinated your coverage with your partner's plan, follow these easy steps:

If the claim is for YOU: First, submit the claim to Canada Life. Then for any unpaid balance, send a copy of your Canada Life claim statement and the other insurance company’s claim form to the other insurance company for processing.

If the claim is for YOUR PARTNER: First, submit the claim to your partner’s insurance company. Then for any unpaid balance, send a copy of the other insurance company’s claim statement with a completed EHC claim form to Canada Life for processing.

If the claim is for YOUR CHILDREN: First, send the claim to the insurance company to the parent who has the earlier birth (month and day) in the year. Then submit any balance to the other parent's insurace company.
